About this deal

Basically, it’s the constant clankety sound in the car as we drive to school each morning (while Lucy and I try to have a conversation in the front). Lay out all nine squares starting on one side. Organize them so they have the same amount of space between each square and make sure they are lined up.

The last thing is to remove the excess flaps at the bottom of the box. I left it on so that the box would be higher of the ground and easier to do everything until this point. You are almost done! Glue down the top flaps using hot glue. So when it came time to brainstorm Halloween costumes, it seemed appropriate to think, inside the box. Heh, heh, heh.

I did my Rubik’s Cube costume pattern so that the Rubik’s Cube was solved, but you could play around with it and mix up the colors. Take each square and glue each square down using hot glue. Repeat with each side. On the top go around the had hole and remove excess from squares that go over the head hole. Leave out the square over each arm hole.

The hardest part of this costume is cutting out the head and arm holes. I used a plate to trace the head hole and just free handed the arm square holes. For the arm hole, cut it out where the top middle square will be. He is even such a good sport to model his costume. He was having fun with it throwing out thumbs up. Now he really wants to learn how to solve a Rubik’s Cube. I loved how this turned out, when I saw it on I just laughed. It was great! I want to see what his students think on halloween.More Halloween inspiration: Halloween Countdown Printable, Halloween Movies to watch, and Halloween Don’t Eat Pete Game Printable. You could also print a RUBIK’S CUBE logo and glue it to the front of the white boxes. People will know what you are either way.

We also taped some padding (quilt batting) into the shoulder areas of the box to make it softer to wear. It’s easier to do this flat on the ground, with a paint cloth underneath. The beauty of the project is that your lines do not have to be perfect! The edges will be covered up later with electrical tape. So just hand paint and do your best to make a general square for each color, following the creased lines of the box. Paint all the tops of the box one color, and all the bottom pieces another color. The white, yellow, and orange paints may require a few coats, while the dark colors might be fine with one coat.
