About this deal

For more details, each player starts with a unique deck of ten cards, seven of which only provide resources to acquire new cards. One of the keywords featured on some of the cards is Exile, which allows you to permanently remove one of your cards from the game. De même que l'interaction entre certains personnages et lieux (des pouvoirs ne s'appliquent que lorsque certaines bases sont actives). These starter decks don’t have a lot of firepower, with seven of the ten cards being unable to do anything but generate resources.

Spread between you and the other player, is the “galaxy row,” a set of six cards pulled from the galaxy deck. This adds an additional push-and-pull element that could make or break your faction in certain circumstances. This SW game should be less swingy in a way as the ability to remove cards from the Galaxy row is more of a core mechanic; whereas the ability to remove cards from the purchase row is more of a Green mechanic in SR. Empire cards in the galaxy row are turned to face the Empire player while the Rebel cards are turned to face the Rebel player (neutral cards are turned sideways so both players can read them easily). Because the deckbuilding experience is akin to a light engine building game like Splendor, the early turns feel a bit like you’re going through the motions. There’s even a 4-player variant that allows you to battle it out between two teams, although it requires an additional copy of the game.

It’s all one big sand box for players to dig into and let their Star Wars fantasies play out on the table. This new head-to-head game for two players brings the galaxy-spanning war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance to your tabletop. We use cookies and other tracking technologies to improve your browsing experience on our site, show personalized content and targeted ads, analyze site traffic, and understand where our audiences come from.

Star/Hero/Cthulhu Realms fans will probably be nodding their heads with a “yup, this sounds familiar” look. If you are thinking this is a reskin of Fantasy Flights earlier card game ‘Empire vs Rebellion’, let me emphasise that that is definitely not the case! Each time you gain Force, the force marker is moved toward your side of the track by the indicated amount. This is a game that is played over a series of turns, with players needing to attack their opponent’s base whilst managing the resources they earn. It’s another layer of strategy to consider as you build up your forces and plan out how you want to attack your opponent.

While managing their resources, players must figure out the most efficient way of taking their opponent’s forces down. This means every game can be wildly different from the last depending on which cards are available, as well as your overall strategy.
